The Spotmatic is considered one of the best film cameras of all time. It’s got a design and build quality similar to the VW Beetle - dependable, uncomplicated, beautiful and it just works. This bad boy was introduced by Pentax in 1960 and although some small stuff changed like lens mount and hot shoe, it remained largely unchanged until 1997. A film classic that is unrivaled!
Why should you want this camera? Every photographer needs a Spotmatic! It uses a M42 screw mount and there are thousands of lenses made for this mount available second hand. You can also buy a cheap adapter and shoot with m42 lenses on your digital camera too! It can shoot with or without batteries (batteries run the light meter). Shooting with this vintage baby makes you slow down and think carefully before firing the shutter. This is not a spray and pray shooter so it will give you pause and consideration to your photography Plus, it just looks so cool so it’ll be a great camera to add to your collection.
