Big wave on a small planet / by dale rogers

[ad_1]Big wave on a small planet I shot this with a fisheye lens on the weekend. While looking at the shot I am reminded how powerful, majestic and pristine the ocean can be. However, I'm concerned with the amount of plastic pollution that finds it's way into our waters.

I see the result of pollution everytime I am out. I applaud the efforts of various Plastic Bag Free Groups and local stores that have decided not to use plastic bags. However, I get very annoyed when I go to the supermarket and see bananas, one of natures perfect fruits with its own very good packaging, bundled in plastic with bright logos. That's just an extra piece of plastic that will end up in our waterways. Why add unnecessary plastic?

I would encourage you all to think about what you personally can do to stop the plastic wastage. Use refillable coffee cups, provide your own bags at the store, do not use plastic straws and etc. I would also encourage you to get behind the Take3 campaign - Simply Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or…anywhere.
