We’ve teamed up with award winning smartphone photographer Mike James to bring an Adventure Based SmartPhone Photography Workshop to Phillip Island this Summer. Mike runs Smartphone Photography Training and is a leader in Oz in providing quality smartphone training and conference presentations.
If you have ever been to a Photo Rangers event, you know we believe that great photos have nothing to do with the camera or price of equipment. As a matter of fact, how many times do you hear someone compliment a chef by saying “that dish was amazing, you must have some really good pots and pans”? That’s what I thought! Same is true with photography, come with us and we’ll show you how to get the WOW! In your photos taken on your smartphone.
The workshop will include an hour adventure walk starting on world famous Woolamai Beach to hidden gem, MagicLands. We will then spend the second hour going through the editing process on your phone.
You will experience:
Fun, relaxed, jargon-free group and one-on-one tuition
Practical, easy to understand tips
Passionate and qualified facilitators – Mike James, ‘smartphone photo guy’ and Photo Rangers Dale and Cecilia Rogers
You will learn:
Quick camera phone specific tips and techniques
Identify how to create visual impact in your photos (aka WOW photos)
Use the best iPhone and Android photo capture and editing apps
Easily apply strategic photo enhancement on your mobile phone
Because we want you to:
Be confident and creative (Don’t worry – we all didn’t get that creative gene)
Enjoy photography without all the technical know-how you don’t need to know!
Receive instant gratification in the mobile phone photos you capture and share
Best capture those precious moments, stories, travel, family, friends, food and selfies!
Capture engaging and creative images in your personal and professional life
Participants will receive a pre-workshop instruction sheet on recommended APPS to have installed prior to the day. Participants will also receive a manual post workshop with all the tips and tricks shared so that you can go back and review the workshop at your leisure.
Date and Time
20 January 2017 @ 10:00 AM
Meeting Point and Workshop Location
We will meet at the ramp to the beach at very end of Woolamai Beach Rd, Cape Woolamai.
What to Bring
Wear some comfortable shoes, a hat and bring your smartphone.
The Phillip Island coast can be a rugged and unforgiving place. Coastal areas are prone to rogue waves and cliff tops are unstable. The island has a very sensitive ecosystem and we will require all participants to remain on the clearly marked paths at all times for their own safety and the safety of our local flora and fauna. Photo Rangers is not responsible for any loss or injury that may occur on the workshop.
How To Reserve Your Place
To reserve your place in the workshop we require registration and prepayment through TryBooking.

Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel and get a full refund if you notify us 24 hours or more before the workshop. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice you can apply the workshop fee to a future Photo Rangers workshop.
Our Adventure Based Workshops will generally go ahead in light rain. Typically the rain on the island will not last long and afterwards we get some of the best conditions for photography. Make sure you bring a raincoat and plastic bag (to shield your camera) just in case of rain.
If the weather is severe or lightening is present, we will cancel the workshop. We will attempt to make a call on workshop cancellation 2 hours before the workshop if possible.
Cancellation of workshop
If a workshop is cancelled we will offer you a full refund or the option of applying the fee to a future Photo Rangers workshop.
