Today we explored the area where Australia’s first dinosaur remains were discovered in 1903 at Flat Rocks and The Caves along the Bass Coast near Inverloch.. It’s an area that continues to produce dino bits each year. To get to the dino rich rock, you must go at low tide as the rock layer sits just below the water line. The rocks here are extremely diverse with interesting patterns resembling things such as checkerboards to dragon skin. There are two very interesting caves here. The biggest has a very narrow entrance shaft that once you squeeze through opens to a large chamber. We’ve got a new workshop in development that will be based around this interesting area … stay tuned.
