Death of A Whale – Poem by Peter Crowther

Death of A Whale – Poem by Peter Crowther
“Like some great fallen king
or god from outer space
it lies now dead and lifeless
on the shore. I estimate it weighs
some thirty tons or more.
We stand around, a little crowd
of pygmies who have crept
out from the shelter of the trees
to gawp at it and feel
an unaccustomed sense of wonder
and amazement as we gaze upon
its sheer bulk and size….”

Juvenile Humpback Whale washed up on Kilcunda Beach.
